It typically grows between 10 and 24 inches tall, with stems that can stand upright or sprawl out and can spread 18 inches wide or more through its rhizomes. The medium green leaves are narrow, occasionally adorned with small lobes near the bases. The flowers bloom in the evening and stay open until late morning, even lasting all day when the sky is overcast, followed by oval, ridged seed capsules after flowering.
